Die Geschichte: Der Neuanfang
Als Marie vor drei Monaten nach Hamburg zog, kannte sie niemanden in der großen Stadt. Sie hatte eine neue Stelle bei einer Werbeagentur bekommen, doch abends saß sie oft allein in ihrer kleinen Wohnung und fühlte sich einsam.
Eines Tages entdeckte Marie im Treppenhaus einen Zettel. Eine Nachbarin suchte Leute für einen wöchentlichen Kochabend. Marie zögerte zuerst, denn sie war eher schüchtern. Doch schließlich fasste sie Mut und klopfte an die Tür.
Die Nachbarin, eine ältere Frau namens Ruth, empfing sie herzlich. In der Wohnung saßen schon mehrere Leute um einen großen Tisch. Sie kochten gemeinsam, lachten und erzählten Geschichten aus ihrem Leben. Zum ersten Mal seit Wochen fühlte sich Marie nicht mehr fremd.
Mit der Zeit wurde aus dem Kochabend eine feste Gewohnheit. Marie lernte die Stadt durch die Augen ihrer neuen Freunde kennen: kleine Cafés, versteckte Parks und Konzerte, von denen sie sonst nie erfahren hätte.
Ein Jahr später saß Marie wieder an Ruths Tisch. Diesmal war sie es, die ein neues, schüchternes Gesicht willkommen hieß. „Der Anfang ist immer schwer“, sagte sie lächelnd, „aber du bist hier nicht allein.“ Hamburg war endlich ihr Zuhause geworden.

When Marie moved to Hamburg three months ago, she knew no one in the big city. She had got a new position at an advertising agency, but in the evenings she often sat alone in her small flat and felt lonely. One day Marie discovered a note in the stairwell. A neighbour was looking for people for a weekly cooking evening. Marie hesitated at first, because she was rather shy. But finally she gathered her courage and knocked on the door. The neighbour, an older woman named Ruth, welcomed her warmly. Several people were already sitting around a big table in the flat. They cooked together, laughed and told stories from their lives. For the first time in weeks, Marie no longer felt like a stranger. Over time the cooking evening became a firm habit. Marie got to know the city through the eyes of her new friends: little cafés, hidden parks and concerts she would otherwise never have heard about. A year later, Marie sat at Ruth’s table again. This time it was she who welcomed a new, shy face. “The beginning is always hard,” she said with a smile, “but you are not alone here.” Hamburg had finally become her home.
